So far this year Austin's fall color has been limited to green (an improvement over summer's brown). But how lovely it is to have such a range of colors and a real feeling of autumn. Makes me want to drink hot chocolate and eat some apple pie.

There are some fantastic shots here Patsi - I love the trees reflected in the water, the moss and the leaf, and .... - well, okay, all of them really!
I am bereft - my camera has broken (something to do with being stuffed in the pockets of my gardening clothes once too often I suspect!), so I can't capture all the glorious colours .... but at least I can get them vicareously through you :)

I have to google where you live...a rain shadow dessert is new to me. Sounds most interesting and temps lower then here. Our lowest winters have been about 20 degrees, we live about 3 miles from the ocean so it's warmer than it is inland.

Hi there Patsi, spotted this wonderful photographic collection this morning and planned to return to leave a comment later and I see you beat me to it ;-)

I really love to see park postings especially at this time of year. I love the trees and the mossy shots especially. However the shot that really made me smile and catch my imagination was the one with the dead tree coming out of the water. To me... it looked like some prehistoric species of bird about to take off into flight :-o

They usually stock our lake with fish but didn't see any.
I have to see were in the dessert you live to get cool temps."

We have a good time down there, the fish are ocean run chinook salmon, the lake is a tributary of the Columbia River. The desert we live in is called The Columbia Basin, it is a rain shadow desert between the Cascade and Blue mountain ranges. During the winter the temps can get as low as -20f but usually hang out around -5 to -10f.
