Another Summer Gone By...

Another summer gone by and already looking forward to the next one.

This post was the beginning of a blog that I discontinued.
One Blog is enough !
Some of you may have commented on it already and I apologize that the comments aren't available.
If you haven't seen this before you may enjoy it.
We have limited sun and still learning what works in different areas of the yard.
In many spots, plants survive not thrive.
This is good for my records and maybe for others who have less-than-ideal planting areas.

..................Just a look around the yard "2008"

Shade (late day sun)

More Shade. Can put sunny flowers in front after established and will survive.
(front 4 hours sun, less in back)

Butterfly bush was planted on one side of our house just to get it out of my sight. It was suffering in less than sunny area.
Surprise, it found a home ! (6-8 hours full sun side of house)

Tried out mixing plants in a pot.(6 hours sun-front)
Experiment every year with mixed plants.

Old bench.(front of bed 4 hours full sun, back dabbled)

Trumpet Vine Madam Galen on arbor is 3 years old.(max 6 hours sun-few blooms)
Needs to be moved ! I think I know where...

Experimenting with
Urns-1

Urn-2

Urn-3
Purple coneflower and Redbeckia fulida "Goldsturm" hanging in there.
(4 hours sun in front to dabbled in back)

Urn-4

Coral Bells "amethyst myst"

Really old bench, maybe I should paint that pillar.
(6-8 hours sun side of house)

Narrow sunny bed which was for my husband's peppers.
This is my only full sun bed in backyard :(
DH felt sad for me one day and gave up some of his veggie beds.
So next year...less tomato plants more flowers ! ! !
It's about 25 feet long gets about 7 hours of sun and won't be narrow any more.

Experimenting with grasses since tree removal in front. (8 hours sun)

Pots

Deep shade. Like it crowded !

Coral Bells"Creme Brulee"

Again with the shade.
Surprisingly,Euonymous shrubs-4 different kinds grow well in back with about 3 hours full sun then mostly dabbled.

Sun god picked up in Texas.

Honeysuckle Vine-Lonicera sempervirens, birds nest every year.(4 hours of sun)

Only perennials in bloom-spring

More Spring beds. Weigela variegated is finally growing. (4-6 hours sun)

Side of house.(6-8 hours full sun)

Different view of arbor.

One of my favorite hostas-Sum and Substance

One of my favorite plants-dead nettle-great ground cover

Husbands vegetable garden-6 hours full sun(early morning pic)

    Charlotte,
Overall in New Jersey, January and February are the coldest months of the year, with average high temperatures in the mid 30s farenheit or 2 celsius. It's been warmer most of the time so we get rain and not snow. A good time to feed and watch the birds.
