For some reason, my favorite Christmas lights are those BIG ones that I remember from my childhood. You know the ones that screwed in like a real light bulb. Maybe it has something to do with believing in Santa. Oh, the excitement of getting presents ! Memories are funny...could swear just about everyone used to put up lights outside. But now I only see about one out of ten homes that decorate. There may be less than before, but enough people do, so it's still fun to drive around to see the decoration of homes with the wonderful lights of Christmas.
Hope you enjoy seeing my neighborhood.
The homes like my own which have modest lights with candle in the windows were too dark to show. :(
Curious...What does your neighborhood look like ?
Your neighborhood is certainly in the holiday spirit!
ReplyDeleteFriday evening was nice here, so I asked the Musician if we could go drive around to see the decorations. He wasn't interested.... he'll HAVE to take me out tomorrow night as it will be my day to make requests!

Great night photos. Have a wonderful holiday,

Oh these are so wonderful photos. I love these Christmas lights.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Cameron,
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you also enjoy that drive around town or where ever to see all the different lights.
I do wonder how and if other countries light up their houses. Feel free to comment anyone.

Merry Christmas
I, too, still like the big, old-fashioned bulbs the best. Your neighborhood seems to be very festive. Have a great Christmas.

Always Growing
Merry Christmas, Patsi!! Enjoyed the light tour...I have the same memories...large Christmas light bulbs and it seemed nearly every home was decorated in lights! It seems nothing compares to good memories!
ReplyDeleteI love driving thru neighborhoods and looking at the lights. That is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Love the photos.

Beautiful night photos, Patsi. Our village neighborhood (about a square mile) is picture-card Christmas pretty. As a fund-raiser to support all of our common gardens, our garden club sells luminaries ... on Christmas Eve, the sight is breathtaking (I should photograph but after early Mass, I'm always entertaining).
ReplyDeleteIn the second photo the middle tree looks like a thin man wearing a top hat with his arms up in the air.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbors put some effort into their decorating. I drove around a few nights ago hoping to take some photos but it just wasn't worth it--the lights are too pathetic. Not that I'm judging as I don't have a single light strung.
Jan,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree. I thought I was the only one.

Kim,
Memories are wonderful. Wasn't there more snow, bigger Christmas trees and lights on everyones roof also ? Well...I'm sticking to it.
~~
Marnie,
I just knew my husband and I couldn't be the only ones that think of that as a Christmas tradition.
~~
Joey,
You must post your village lights!
It has to be pretty.

Genie,
Not sure about the thin man, have to look again. I think with some neighbors it's a competition. Which is really neat! Pathetic like...more modest than flashy? That can be really pretty!
Great light show. It is so much fun just to drive around and look at how all of the different houses are decorated.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and Merry Christmas.
I have to confess I haven't gotten out at night to see the lights! I'm a "day" person and hardly go out at night. But I certainly enjoyed the tour you gave me right here in my desk chair!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Aiyana,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the tour.

Chad and Brandy,
Some people get very creative. I could have done more but it's been cloudy here for weeks and the pics aren't the best. Merry Christmas, hope you have a great holiday.

Brenda,
Hey! I guess we made it easy for you !
Hin Patsi, I'm glad I stopped by so I could take the light-tour. I missed it before Christmas, so good thing it's still available to view:) It always helps me to get into the holiday spirit when I see the colorful Christmas lights. Hope your Christmas was wonderful this year;) Jan
ReplyDeleteJan,
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the tour. My husband thought it would be a good idea so just took some quick pics. Well be by to visit. :)
What a Wonderful collection of Christmas lights. There are some creative people over there! :-) We used to make an annual event of driving to see all the lights before Christmas when I was growing up. Thanks for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post...the lights are so bright and cheery. Because of the weather we didn't get to drive around and look at lights this year, thanks for sharing, Kim
ReplyDeleteShady,
ReplyDeleteSome years it's only a brief drive around...maybe on the way home from where ever.
Still fun.

Kim,
Glad you enjoyed the tour. My husband figured we can't be the only ones who find it entertaining...so why not post some pics.
