This Blue Jay is making a mess at the feeder.
This is a better look at him.
Bullies at the feeders.
This population is 10 times more than it was last year.
I believe these are Female House Sparrows. The black guy is a Brown-headed Cowbird.
Sometimes they STAY STILL !
Northern Cardinal
Go to All About Birdsto see and hear birds. Personally needed this to know who's making all that noise in the morning :)
The bird making a mess is a beauty! What kind of bird is it? A Blue tit?

Katarina,
ReplyDeleteSorry, I should have posted it...did now.
It's a "Blue Jay", don't see too many of them at one time. Big bird !
I added a link to the bottom of the post that's very helpful.
Patsi..wow..these are all fantastic shots!! Just love the Cardinal snuggled in the branches!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots as always. The Blue Jays almost pose for photos.
ReplyDeleteWe have also seen a large number of house sparrows this year. We are participating in Project Feeder Watch so I am actually keeping track now.
This morning I witnessed an unfortunate event between a Sharp shinned hawk and a cardinal.
Thanks Kim. They all stop at this branch before feeding.

Chad,
Usually take part in GBBC which is only 3 days(I'm lazy),I'll have to look at Project Feeder Watch again.
Know it's nature but it still has to be hard to witness what you did again.
Hi Patsi!
ReplyDeleteThe birds are soo beautiful! The northern cardinal is really strange*G* our winter-birds are black, grey, brown and sometetimes blue/yellowe but red-orange!?! Cool!
best wishes
Manu

Hi Manu,
ReplyDeleteOk...have to ask what is a *G* ?
Love to see some of your backyard friends.

Marnie,
Pictures in the trees are the best.
Need more trees by my window :)
Patsi,
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing a TraLaLa post title (in my blogroll) for your blog, but can't find the post. Am I missing something?
Cameron
Messy or not, your Blue Jay is quite a handsome fella'! And the photo of your red cardinal, stunnning, Patsi ... a beautiful Christmas card!
ReplyDeleteI agree Joey...they are handsome.
ReplyDelete~~
Cameron,
I did a post then deleted it because I didn't like it. Funny it still stays there. Maybe I'll redo it.
Die Fotos sind einfach Spitze, aber einige von Den herzigen Vögelchen kenne ich leider nicht, entweder sie kommen hier nicht vor, oder sie leben nicht in Deutschland.
ReplyDeleteLG Charlotte.
Wow -- I really like the second Blue Jay shot. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte,
ReplyDeleteAll our birds are listed as North American Birds.
I'll have to look up birds from Europe. I'm sure their in similar families as found here.
~~
Thanks Sweet Bay.
I was checking to make sure I'd left a comment here, but must have gotten sidetracked. I've been doing a lot of that lately. What beautiful, clear pics of the birds you have here! I love them!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays,
Sue
Hi Patsi, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and the best for the upcoming New Year.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the lights, I like the big C9 ones and I like them colorful. Do you remember angel hair too? It all brings back good memories. I have a post coming up tomorrow concerning Christmas lights, you might find it interesting seeings how you live kind of in the north. Love all the lights in your neighborhood, especially the blue and the house that is completely outlined. It is all very festive.
You are so gifted with your camera! I'm loving the close-ups of the birds at your feeders. :-)
