Green Thumb Sunday

From seed trades.
These were started 2006 and still going strong.
Green Thumb Sunday does not have to be current...so this is the 4th post on "starting from seed" prior to when I started blogging.
They're located in about 3 hours of full sun.
Have some in shade(1-2 hours of late afternoon sun)but they're not as happy.
Not sure about all the names...would appreciate any help.

I love shopping for plants but my biggest thrill is starting them from seed.
They may not be as large or pretty at first as something you buy...
but when a tiny dry seed that has no signs of life germinates,
well it feels like a miracle happening right under my eyes.

I have Black Barlow .. the double ruffled flower in that dark colour just got me .. to do it from seed though .. that is a huge WOW ! .. I think Cosmos and sunflowers are the only ones I would get to sprout ? haha

  8. The blooms are very pretty and to think you started them from seeds. It is amazing what comes from tiny brown seeds.

  9. Columbine are a favorite of mine. So delicate yet so tough. Many new wonderful varieties being developed. I've never seen the black before.

  10. Patsi, Do you have secrets for growing hybrid columbine? The wild columbine (Colorado state flower) grows veryy well, without any help from me... but I don't seem to have great luck with other varieties. Perhaps I'll just purchase a LOT of seeds and sow them like crazy next Spring?

  11. I received many diffent kinds of aquilegia seeds from 2 different sources. There was no problem with the one's you see but most didn't germinate. I can't remember what I did wrong.
