I saw our resident female sitting on her perch at 7:00am Oct 4th and that was the last time she was seen. She's on her way Cameron. We're seeing a few travelers who are enjoying the pineapple sage, cardinal climber and just about everything else in the yard.
Soon all will be wintering in Mexico and Central America where they spend their non-breeding months.
Patsi, our garden is ready and waiting! I have about 15 salvia greggii in bloom. The pineapple sage should be in bloom (we're at Hatteras right now). The 12 black & blue salvias are still blooming great, too. The feeders are out and I'll refresh them again as soon as we get home. Cameron
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty bird...I love her coloring!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a hummingbird fluffed up before, awesome pic! Must be kind of sad to see her go every year.
ReplyDeletePatsi, What type of hummingbird is this? We only get Ruby-throated hummingbirds in Iowa. I think ours are gone now, too. SE Iowa has always been zone 4, but I think we're 5b now. (I normally purchase plants hardy in zones 3 and 4... then I feel pretty safe!) ha.
ReplyDeleteShady,
ReplyDeleteRuby-throated. I guess I should have said that.
