Hanging in There

The Season's not over yet.

Montauk Daisies-Nipponanthemum nipponicum -new (no home yet)

Toad Lily-Tricyrtis hirta-pretty but tiny and gets hidden in the garden
(just started to bloom...I think that's late)

Just some old mums(most mums I use as annuals because I have too much shade)

Impatiens-wallerana-they're all over and still hanging in there
(not as healthy as in past years)

Waxed Begonias-I was never crazy about them but they tolerate sun or shade
and last until November(weather permitting)

Not sure what to do with this accent piece.
I can put a ball on top or better yet a saucer and make it a bird feeder.

Red Dragon-Persicaria microcephala-easy to root directly in dirt

Lantana camara

Hanging Petunias-only the tips look pretty

Geraniums-flowers until November but green plant lasts through Christmas.

Pineapple Sage-doesn't start blooming until September

Sage Russian-perovskia atriplicifolia-a little crowded in this bed

Coleus-lasts until November

Deadnettle-Lamium maculatum"white nancy"
Great for almost zero sun... does require dabbled sun (some filtering through the trees)
Think I should pull that ivy? Can never get rid of it. All my neighbors have it.

I can't forget this girl who's still hanging in there.

She fed once in awhile but mostly just sat there from 3pm until dark. I was sitting on the swing when I saw her and decided to get up to try for a closer picture.
She saw me the whole time and didn't move until I was about 4 feet from her.

  1. Oooo, all the flowers are so pretty! I especially love the daisies.

I saw a hummingbird this week, and was a bit surprised they're still here.

    Hugs,
    Donna

  3. You still have so many beautiful flowers! That little girl needs to be on her way. Tell her to come to my garden in NC on her way south. I've got 3 feeders still up and lots of salvia for her! Cameron

  4. I vote for a gazing ball!

Man, that is one laid back hummer!

Mmm, daisies. I'm not a gardener and except for my golden bamboo, I could really care less about what's growing in the yard (unless I can shoot it) but I might break down and plant daisies next year. I adore them.

  8. What inspiring, beautiful photographs! Pineapple sage reminds me of salvia. Is it ornamental only, or can you cook with it? Tricyrtis is one of my favorite plants!
